This is the gift of an excellent vintage and a wine-grower who gave this wine his complete attention while it was being produced. Its name can be traced back to the small stone house called the Capitell, which was built hundreds of years ago as a place to take shelter in the vineyards. This is a powerful, elegant red wine, in which the concentrated mellowness of the fruit combines beautifully with the vigorous tannin. Aged in oak, a deep ruby red, aromas of berries and roasting, in the mouth the flavors of ripe fruits, vanilla and cocoa. Will drink well now and up to 10 years after harvesting. A tip for gourmets: lamb cheeks with glazed shallots. Domaine de la Triballe This wine estate, which has been in the family for five generations, has 80 hectares of agricultural land and 20 hectares of vineyards. Since 1990, Olivier and Sabine Durand have been operating it using ecological methods. At that time, the vines had never been treated with herbicides and artificial fertilizers, so it was completely logical to switch over to “ecological viticulture.” The vines have been planted at a distance of of 2.10 m by 1.10 m, which means that the plant density is 4,400 vines per hectare. This is quite a lot for this wine-growing region. Considering that the amount harvested is less that 50 hl per hectare, it is easy to see that the quality of the wine is of prime importance. The grapes are harvested when they are completely ripe in order to produce fruity and expressive wines.
