enlarge Rioja Navardia, joven (young) Bodegas Bagordi This is a very good organic Rioja with a fruity and spicy aroma – raspberries, black currants, black pepper, licorice and quince. On the palate, it is very well-balanced and pleasantly fruity with sweet tannins and licorice. It has a long and pleasant finish. Will drink well now through 2010 at temperatures of between 16 and 18 degrees centigrade. Can be served with a meal, but is also very enjoyable when drunk by itself. Winemaking The ecologically grown grapes from the vineyards of the beautiful Baztan Valley are hand-picked and brought to the wine cellar immediately afterwards, where they are pressed carefully, fermented, and where the young wine is bottled after a short period of maturation. Bodegas Bagordi is in the northern part of Rioja and was established by several deeply committed wine-growers in 1995, who now farm a large part of their own vineyards ecologically and who attach great importance to producing the very best wines from the very carefully cultivated grapes in their cellars.
